Help Save a Landmark

In Columbus, Ohio, there stands a majestic facility known as Green Lawn Abbey. This neo-gothic mausoleum was one of only a few facilities built by the Columbus Mausoleum Company. Many central Ohio citizens have their final resting place here, including the famous Thurston the Magician, a contemporary of Houdini's. It has endured a number of challenges over the years... the first of which was depletion of it's "perpetual maintenance" funds during the Great Depression. It was nearly surrounded by a farm implement store next door at one time. And the worst... vandals have done tremendous amounts of damage over the years.

Now there is a group working to bring this facility back to all it's splendor... The Friends of Green Lawn Abbey have begun to work on restoration of this grand mausoleum. But it's a huge financial undertaking... not to mention very time consuming. If you'd like more information as well as numerous photos of the Abbey, visit them at http://www.greenlawnabbey.com/. More importantly, if you can help financially, they've set up a donation link through the Columbus Landmarks Foundation. Just visit their donation page for more information.
